Colors of Her Heart Long ago before countries were founded, Long before natives lived in harmony... Mother Nature rich in colors grounded Spread her riches amidst the forest free. Animals drank from her pure mountain streams The chain of life connected every part There was balance in everything it seems As colors flowed through Mother Nature's heart. Then humans, new caretakers of the land, Began to fight for territory gains Fanning flames of pollution with their hand, Let humankind not ruin what remains. Let us each strive to do our earthly part To revive pure colors of Nature's heart. Rev. 4-3-19

This is a lovely personification of Mother Nature and her beautiful colors, as well as a pointed reminder that we are stewards of her many blessings. "Let humankind not ruin what remains" should be taught in every class from kindergarten through grad school. Amen.

Hi Connie, well it seems congratulations are in order, so, congratulations on your win. This is such a wonderful write. The question after reading your excellent poem is, Can we still revive the colours of nature's heart? An excellent poem that does make one think, while, and after reading. You caught the theme of your subject so well Connie. Love the imagery, love the content. Have a wonderful Sunday. Hugs....Mike. XX

We can make a huge difference just by ceasing to use plastic bags and plastic water bottles. Not dumping our old prescription pills down the toilet, using better lighting etc. etc. Huge chain stores need to be cognizant of those dreaded water bottles! Thank you my friend. Hugs, Connie xxoo

Dear John, it must have been agonizing to leave so many wonderful entries off your winning list. I was surprised to make your short list after reading others. I truly appreciate the honor of being included. Thank you so much. I agree with your Trophy winner choice of Emile's poem. It brought tears to my eyes. Thank you very much John. There are some who ignore the consequences of failing to protect our environment, Connie. Your theme and rhyme are right on target and I admire the way you brought Native cultures who protected nature's bounty into your beautiful sonnet. Best wishes for a win! (It was really nice chatting with you, but I'm sorry I kept you up so late.) I posted a blog for the two first-place winners, hoping more readers would visit the poems. Hugs, Carolyn
