Heart Shades
In innocence beats newly-arrived hearts
who sweetly trust all circumstance as shared.
Soon, babe's same gullible heart grows feel-art
and life paints perspective-shades deeply flared.
All hearts are lifted, shattered, swelled and torn,
until they thump a weak or brave array.
Some hearts hold dear as born, some turn forlorn,
while some burn emotions in fear's ashtray.
My own heart shines opal hues - mute and bright
from time induced brilliance and dullness mixed,
then glossed in life stir-drops of fluid light.
Either way, my opal heart beats thus fixed.
Perhaps, heart colors pulse that souls may solve
how all newborn hearts may with love evolve.
