Chasing a Rainbow

All my life- I have been chasing a rainbow shadow, for that treasure just beyond the next meadow. But, along this journey I have found such deep love, from family and friends- and sweetness like a dove. And in that pot at the end I do not need gold, all I need is tranquility, peace and memories to hold. Gold and money cannot buy me a life of peace, it is things I do each day that will bring me happy release. Oh, sure, there will be days of tears and days of rain, twists, turns and mountains to climb again and again. But at the end- in my final breath I will say, I found my rainbow each and every single day. ______________________________ January 16, 2016 - edit Poetry/Couplet/Chasing A Rainbow Copyright Protected, ID 16-1106-551-0 All Rights Reserved. Tranquility, peace and memories are worthy goals, Dear Heart. Those who focus all their attention on collecting wealth will never know the same kind of happiness. This seems to come from your Native American ancestry and I love it! Best wishes in Brian's contest. (It's hard to know what he'll like, but how could he not love this poem?)

Carolyn, thanks for your nice comment and you are right my spiritual thinking does come from my native ancestors, I hear the drums in my heart. Yes, I realize we can never know what the sponsors will feel about our poems entered in their contests, but I hope Brian likes this one.
