Cell Phone Abusers -For Whine and Cheese

You’re at the intersection in your car, that damn device held pressed against your ear. You’re unaware, but we know who you are: the one away from whom we all will steer! My class has barely started. Suddenly, inside the room is heard the strangest sound. You leave - or worse - you talk right over me. Is there no place a cell phone can’t be found? I’m at the movies. Bleep, bleep, bleeping bleep. Another one. . . and music starts to play! And then you start conversing? Why, you creep, you’re begging just to “make somebody’s day.” Just turn it off! You think we love your voice? NO, Big Shot, we're just victims with no choice. An oldie from July 31, 2011

When you wrote a Wine and Cheese poem for the contest this week, I thought I had seen it before, recently. It was this one! Almost, but not quite, haha!

It's become even worse in the years since you wrote this amusing little rant. Now it's considered the norm to be interrupted by a call that "I've got to take", or eyes looking down every minute to see texts or tweets. Good write!

Hate them in a bar. No one ever looks up anymore, can't even have a conversation. Congratulations Andrea...

You had me at the word "sonnet" on this one. Another example of your mastery. Great poem, Andrea, thank you so much for submitting. I'm grateful for having had the opportunity to read it. Aren't you glad the fad of having actual songs as the ring seems to have faded out? I remember walking through campus and hearing the most random coming from poeple's flip phones

Hi Andrea, I agree but can you maybe forgive some of us "abusers" ,--I used to be on-call 24/7 and had to wear a pager everywhere I went and could not turn it off in case of hospital emergency, so maybe... maybe that is why some people have their cell phone on... sounds like I am making an excuse for them. Loved your poem. Take care Lee

Ah, yes indeed! People who use their phones just about everywhere can totally make my day, >.0; sometimes one could indeed wish that they just chuck their phones for once... common courtesy does go out the window sometimes-- very witty sonnet you have here, you definitely made me relate to this soo well! Hmm I think you have written just about every topic in sonnet form, amazing! hugs to you :) & thank you for your sweet comments in my stone poem :D
