Calm - 'We Are Scared'
To be honest, there is not a lot I remember being an angel,
Though I can speak volumes about being a demon
The Devil does not allow us much of a past or a future.
It is all about the now.
Being around humans as much as I am,
I have been able to remember more than the average demon
Though there are other demons that spend a lot of time with humans,
They do not stick around one person long enough
To really gain anything significant for themselves
They will scare them; create delusion and dissention in their lives,
Perhaps even take their life if they gain enough power from fear and pain,
But they will never just listen to them…absorbingly observe them, as I do…
In fact, they take nothing they do seriously
A demon would never take the time to understand
Why the little girl enjoys dancing ballet with her friends,
Or why the painter or craftsman takes so much time on his intricate designs
Demons may find them humorous at times,
But they will never fully appreciate a human’s humor
Or their poetry of lament, of which from their heart pours forth their very purpose
The genius—the distinct style of their personalities, is nothing to the demon
We are just so caught up in ourselves
That even thinking of anything beyond our intentions is absurd
We are scared, is all that it really is
We are scared, and never satisfied….
Fear is strange to me now….
It does not affect me the way it used to
Now, it comes and goes
But when fear leaves, which is often,
I find I am that much closer to reaching my midpoint
