Broken Moon
It hung suspended above the snow
I touched it, cracked it like an egg
and found within its troubled soul
a golden dream in tarnished bowl
It huddled in the failing glow
of love's long distant touch
told me of its love affair
with the Sun's awakening blush
whispered of the loneliness
of rising sun to dusk
daily tears she sheds for him
as he sinks beneath earth's rim
for she revels in darkness
while he aspires to light
