Broken, Broken
"Each just a bit afraid and broken . . . "
Richard Lamoureux, line from his poem, Broken People

Life has left me,
fragmented, beaten and battered;
have run a labyrinth to be free,
'till I am grief tattered.
Oh, have walked a winding, serpentine, twisted maze,
been violated and subdued when life betrays;
wandered in a forlorn thick haze-
I am one of the broken people . . .
But somewhere in,
my damaged ruined existence;
a tiny spark smoldered and grew within,
to see in the distance.
I write my life from a bleeding pen in pieces,
and for a time my woeful, woebegone ceases;
and on white paper releases-
each just a bit afraid and broken . . .
