Blinded, Folding

Blinds were drawn, slid closed. So she folded herself, collapsed In familiar retreat, Along similar lines going weak Giving in again to movement Of leg's levers pulling thighs to belly Drawing in again her arms Creased at elbows, touching ribs Paperthin-skinned flightless wings Hands neat wrapped round knees Neck dropping head to rest Chin to chest, while coolness Of. white sheet's pleats firmly defied Evening's crumpled humid heat Strange comfort covered A mind stripped, as day fades Lines had been drawn, light complied On the knotted spine with its own Two-tone arise and drop, Curved with a need for sleep On the dotted line, a sinking Head to toe beneath Time's horizon. And so, she slept, bent double Once more folded and foiled Blood and flesh, origami style, Dark and lightly blinded bird. Aqua Marine. May 8th, 2017.

This resonates with me. As an abused child, I slept in the fetal position which I later realized was a protective position. Most of the origami bending was done during the day.

We need to find ways to self soothe, Richard. I feel hurt for what you have experienced as a child Children are so vulnerable. My father used to joke about the "hiding" he gave me when I was six weeks old. Because I was crying too much. I have always appreciated your sensitivity to human suffering. It radiates warmly in your poems. I remember they gave me comfort. That not all people are cruel and uncaring. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ((Warm Hugs))

You are welcome, I am glad you keep giving me a gentle push in tbe right direction...I know there can only be courage where there is fear, and I hope I can conquer this. Don't give up on those who can't respond right away. I've been thinking thinking thinking... I'm still alive and kicking...: ))

I was here before, and deleted my account - internal and external pressures...troubling experiences and troubled thinking. I needed to "bare my soul" here on PS, and sometimes received a negative reaction. You have been very encouraging and kind, Silent One- thank you! Your poetry inspires others to continue writing...Warm regards, (((Hugs)))Aqua M.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind encouragement, Harry! I' ll be coming through to read more of your poems - I found "An Oservation" quite intriguing. And filled with sensitive perception about human nature- I have a poem that I thought of as being better in haibun form- and am now inspired to give it a try!
