Beyond the Breakers

My noose too tight to be with you tonight- My trail of ebony too light, for my ivory… -has lost her sight. In the depth of beyond lies the naked soul of the unknown. Forbidden from reason...lost in recognition and living a life of disregard. Long lost love has been broken and like a black dove, destiny has spoken. Revealing my desires crackles wood in burning fires- Freedom from loss is not what this life requires. Internal remorse- Beyond… So far beyond.. "And this too shall pass", is said with all the lies you fed- and still, you ended up dead. Far away in a distant memory, I found the brokenness of a quill- My verses stopped flowing and my soul never knowing- For in living there is dying and in dying there is regret- But oh, my love, how do I ever forget… Standing alone in a cave with no one left to save- while beyond the breakers I lay here… and your touch I crave. It seems this contest inspired quite a few poems about loneliness, Laura. You captured the sadness beautifully. Especially like "Standing alone in a cave with no one left to save." Turn around - you'll find me there in the cave with you. Awesome writing. Congratulations on your win
