Best Titles- Contest Example
What lies beneath the lies,
I should not have looked in those deep chestnut eyes-
The deep inside me,
ebony cries…
until the black dove flies.
The day before you died,
I promised to be on your side.
Ashes to ashes and dust to dust-
Mesmerized,
walking forward is a must-
hypnotized.
The noise,
pulsating rhythm of my heart.
The hourglass,
time to make a fresh start-
A saddened soul
you devoured me whole,
in death we shall part.
I’ll never see you again,
my one and only true friend-
Death is not the end,
lost without your lyric,
my hand I shall lend.
The baggage of an afflicted childhood,
in the doorway you stood,
salt poured from my eyes,
you took off your disguise,
I never thought you would.
The gateway to your lonely tomb,
you were tormented since in the womb-
You lost your smile,
if only you stayed a little while longer,
I’m not stronger,
you made my garden bloom.
My sorrow will slowly be the death of me,
my sight too blind to see-
You became my destiny,
angels stole you
now you’re free.
Your resignation,
my contemplation-
Red stained soul,
life has taken a toll.
Twilight ascends,
I must make amends-
Eight years of sobriety,
your intervention failed,
I was a liability,
to the cross you were nailed.
Suicidal tendencies,
my lungs collapsed
I can’t breathe-
Even if there’s no more to give
I knew you'd leave,
Your death is the reason why I live,
you're the reason why I grieve.
Goodbye, my love,
you rest gently above-
I slipped on a tear drop,
I pray for this pain to stop.
Fly free like an ivory dove.
My next contest example:
Write a poem using your poem titles, BUT you can NOT use filler words (if, and, the, or, with, because etc)
JUST titles and make it one complete whole poem. It must be for a common theme.
Each title must have its own line. (every new line is a new poem title)
