Imagine a thousand fireflies blinking at the same time,
not a fly and not a bug but a glowing, flashing beetle;
as a child I caught one in a jar and named him Cecile,
in a marsh among the long dense grass they climb.
Father said, let Cecile go for his life is only a few days,
so now, I just stand and appreciate their lantern displays;
imagine a thousand fireflies blinking at the same time.
