Dark undertones contrasting lighthearted wit
An interesting sight, the sort that I fit
I’m not quite sure what it is about the autumn
But life becomes better as the fall begins to blossom
Change of color admits change of life
And end of struggle with the end of strife
Like the ombre tint of a bipolar tree
Mood swings from depression to ecstasy
Green fades to yellow…to orange…red…brown…
A bright cheerful smile converts to a frown
She withers to the ground like a dying leaf
Winds blow away a life full of grief
We juxtapose this vehement orange on black
Always moving forward and never looking back
Trees rain down their leaves of fire
Flames from the heavens in burning desire
Empty pale sky reflecting her mind
A lover’s pure heart she’s hoping to find
But wandering,
                                                                                     And yet,
Finding nothing.
Glacial brisk air mixing with heat of passion
Brain formulating thoughts in an unladylike fashion
Cold tipped noses hovering frozen in time
And the closeness of lips in youthful prime
Feelings indescribable in the silence of day
Walking a golden path of shame on display
Critically knit sweaters of an endeavoring matter
Season’s new appearance she’s hoping to flatter
Forgetting the past with a sweep of the hand
Moving towards improvement of a higher demand
Leaving summer’s heat for the serenity of fall,
Then abandoning harvest for winter’s crude gall
Black of the night and stars high above
A deepening soul with the sparks of old love
Change brings happiness, a multitude to bear
But death will soon encroach hand in hand with despair
So hold on to the moment, lest it escape too far,
Before the foliage disappears and you forget who you are.

You have heard "you had me at hello?" You had me at the first line. I FAVed this poem before I went any further. Sometimes in your heart, you know a poem is written for you. This one you wrote for me. I love it! Thank you, and welcome to Poetry Soup, Hannah.
