Another Chanukah, Another Year

The ghost of Chanukah past haunts me Yes, Chanukah past candles burning, candles burning In battle with deadly foes Our people continue to exist The ghost of Chanukah past haunts me Remembering tales of revolutions and murderers The ghost of Chanukah past The ghosts of New York, Russia and Jerusalem haunt me So I read this ode to you friends In the hope we can take some joy from watching candles slowly burn from watching candles slowly burn

I am afraid I am unfamiliar with Chanukah lore, but from this brief rendering I can see that there is much more to learn. Well done Matthew. Best wishes, Keith

I don't know anything about the Jewish holidays, but you write about this one hauntingly! I like it!

Heavy, deep poem Mathhew, may your candles burn with hope! There's something very endearing in this piece; I guess I can relate, my father fought in WW11 against racism --- you've shown great courage in writing about something that needs to be said. Your brother, Keith O.J Hunt
