Another Birthday To Celebrate

Another birthday to celebrate? How can I plead with time, and add a few more years? How can hope suddenly ejaculate... when one is not promised laughs, shouldn't one be drunken with wine? Exposed to the elements of illusion, I can't foresee anything but a number and the comforting presence of delusion; come, tomorrow with hail and thunder! Like a broken, abandoned artifact, this heart has been reduced into many fragments of pitiful hopelessness, and left alone with its ugly age, it waits for sorrow and death by still yearning for another birthday to celebrate with renewed happiness.

Oh, Andrew.. I'm sure your heart isn't 'ugly' with age! And why 'hopelessness'? We all get weary but cheer up! You're as beautiful as your Father who made you! Be greatful for the gift of another year! Who knows what it might bring? Happy Birthday! Love, Annalise

sounds like it's going against the grain of the poem to say Happy Birthday but HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ANDREW!
