An Observation, a Warning, and a Reconciled Bereavement

A student, a brilliant thinker. Who sits in the woods and thinks. Humming next to his ear The beasts of insignificance fly. Wasting time- surviving. The annoyance in his eyes is invisible, And still they scatter with one glance. A worshiper, a lover of God. His profession is praise, Daily he is joy-filled. Pricking the corners of his mind Is a web of doubt- Watch out! Clean every crevice before the temple’s joy Is replaced with a suffocating, Blanket of ash. A sleeping man, How tired is he from his life in the field. Drifting away, slowly, slowly- Carefully his eyelids take one last breath And he sees, on the bridge of his nose, Two eyes breathing back into his own. A butterfly, she has made a temporary home On the face of our friend- Waiting for her new wings to dry. His eyes smile with the consent of his heart. Wait for me, he whispers, And together we will fly.
