Lunch Notes: I often text an inspirational note to my kids around lunch time. This is one of those notes, meant to encourage them to look for ways to work together to take advantage of complementary skills. -Cary

Thomas made the lightbulb, and Nikola made a coil, each of them was brilliant over everything they'd toil. And though they did amazing things with all their mind and heart, neither liked the other one and so they worked apart. They argued over processes and created quite a feud, they berated and belittled and were both completely rude. It's too bad that their pride got in the way right from the start; they could have done much more together than they did apart.

I reckon you've framed this message nicely. Hope the kids enjoyed it as much as I did.

Oh, this is so good! And what a good mother you are! I believe it is a mother’s job to bond her family and especially siblings who will be left when their parents leave this earth. How wonderful when kids get along...not always easy, but sweet.

Thank you, Kim, for the words of support. You may be surprised to learn I am a father, and I agree with you that a mother's role includes reinforcing the bond between siblings. We work together and are thrilled our children get along so well; we like to think we are doing something right, but I have to admit we have a lot of help around us, too. ;-) Thank you! -Cary
