Across the Distance
We are so close
that I can stretch my hand
out to caress your soul
across the stormy water.
My spirit rises
when it hears your voice
call my name softly
over the rippling water.
When daylight fades
and night spreads out her sheet
I lay down by your side
beyond the silent water.
