A Winter Walk
Diamond, diamond
glitter and snow,
timeless thy glazed season
whither I go;
The nips and bites ----
frosted half-moon windows,
delight,
the little red lights
.... deserts of white-limbed boughs
twinkle with star and cloud,
with silver tunes and icy looms.....
(How the women blush this night!)
and the cries of children
to fight the chills on their icing-hills......
noses with red-curiousity......
the family dog swift with frost;
Odes of this winter-song,
like a diamond, diamond!
December is here,
(and Christmas not too far along)
