First green, then gold, now downy white Fields wear their gown of wintry delight Flakes soft upon the evergreen glisten The doe quietly raises her head to listen No sound but that of a winter wren Calling to her mate in the forest glen Beneath her blanket rests the earth Gathering strength for spring's rebirth...
