A Vice I Love- For Contest

Allow me please to introduce you to some of my friends but treat them with respect or else they'll send you round the bend. Don't mess with the Hogfather if you don't want a vendetta the side effects take days to go before you're feeling better. Thistly Cross in small amounts will leave you warm as mustard but stick within your limits, less it turns your brains to custard A night with Henry Weston leaves me walking kind of funny and seductive charm of Old Rosie can make my eyes go runny. I know that I have sometimes thought of going on the wagon only to find myself ensnared in the clutches of Black Dragon. Of all the things I think of that can make my smile much wider when down my throat none float my boat like good old British cider. Cheers! G'day Viv ... everything would keep you sober and viceless until that evil yeast marries the sugar but you're right, they're all good friends but can land a decent punch - thanks Viv - Lindsay

Cheers, Lindsay, I've made a resolution this year not to drink cider until the temperature is much warmer. Now, excuse me while I turn the radiators up :) . Regards, Viv

I've got a four pint carry-out of Thistly cross cider aged in whisky casks, but I'm not touching it until Christmas day. And I'll be drinking it sitting on the floor so I don't fall off anything.. Viv x

I myself once ran with a wild gang too, Ancient Age, Johnny Walker, Old Forester, Jack Daniels and Pride of Kentucky! We were great pals and they never seemed to worry about how wild I got! lol Love this poem my friend, great entry in that contest. A7

I'm no drinker, Viv, but I've tasted English cider in moderation and I enjoyed it (that was many years ago!). Now I just have a glass of red wine every now and again. Cheers! // paul

A wise move, Paul and I admire you restraint. me, I only drink on two occasions- when it's my Birthday, and when it isn't. Regards, Viv

I do not know Hogfather, Thistly Cross, H. Weston, Old Rose, Black Dragon, but, I know cider! Are they all labels for alcohol? I'm guessing. I don't think they exist in the US. I am not a drinker, but I've heard of or been around most brands. It is a good poem because I get the jest of it and enjoy the writing. I regret being lost by 'labels' - if that is what happened. Good luck, Viv - CayCay

Yes, CayCay, we have such a large choice of ciders and real ale over here it gets bewildering sometimes. If I'd have written about real ale, you would have been bombarded with names such as 'Dogbolter', 'Hairy Helmet', 'Snecklifter'...then it gets confusing. Viv x

for some reason I cant stand cider....for me, it is a twisted face provider....so I stick to the beer, brown, red and white....so cheers my friend, here's to your heck of a write....

I mainly drink real ale too, eric, I occasionally treat myself to a cider but not too often, as they're a little too high strength. Regards, Viv

We shall certainly clink, Jan. By the way, regarding your Cat-astrophe poem, go on to youtube and in the search box type in 'Sainsburys Mog Christmas advert' (Mog, not dog). Viv x

You are a true good soul. That we know. A lot of love goes into producing these friends. They are a mighty lot. Your cautions are laudable.

Ive not had any of your cider, but wish I had. Seems it gives you a lift and that is a good thing, of course in moderation. A nice glad of cabernet, perhaps? Enjoyed..BG

when it comes to our cider, your not drinking will probably save your life. And your liver, at least. Hugs, Viv x
