A Sunshine Sonnet
What joy I feel to waken from my sleep
and look toward my window where the rays
of dawn’s first light through curtains seem to peep.
I’d love to see the sunshine all my days
although I know at times there must be rain
to nourish plants and all life on this earth.
However, it’s the sun that makes me sane!
It brings in springtime such a sense of mirth
for those who have endured a season of
the winter’s cold and gloom. How very sweet
it is, like feeling giddy when in love!
Gold frosting on our sky is summer’s treat!
On days with sunshine people have more fun
embracing life! How welcomed is warm sun!
