A Rose's Scent
They say that a nose knows --
But what does it know?
It knows a rose's scent, and many other a flower
It knows the sweet breath of an early Spring shower
It knows where there's fire or mortal danger
It knows who's familiar and who is a stranger
It knows the forest trail and the mountain's peak
a fertile valley, buried treasure, the flow of a creek
It knows when a lover is brimming with desire
the warmth of the sun, and something much higher
