Notes About The Poem

Backstory: My one sister is not a fan of my poetry. She pulped one of my books, The Eutony of Words (2018), and fashioned a Pergamon lamp out of it. The lamp is trying to be a cultural palimpsest: ancient echoes, medieval mystique, and 20th-century Americana—all wrapped in one object.

A Pergamon Lamp of my First Book

Malodorous paper pulp
poured into a drying frame –
sheets of energy infused tradition
of my soul-drenched words.
The calligraphy unfolds
on the origami shade –
perspectives illuminated
by a Himalayan salt lamp.

Thanks, Paige. I tried to put my own stamp on the imagism form.
