Depression's a part of existence,
an affliction intrinsic to man.
And when reality unravels,
we are left to cope the best we can.
Loneliness is all too familiar,
you feel cornered; no way to retreat.
And when life's non-receptive to dreams,
you're dogged by failure and defeat.
A wave of confusing emotions
floods fledgling hearts as corrosive tears.
And tides of regret raise as you sleep,
stirring nightmares and dredging up fears.
Trying to find a pathway to love;
hope encourages hearts to take a chance.
But when lies camouflage the truth dreams
collapse as if pierced by a lance.
Plagued by melancholy feelings,
you’re mired in self-doubt, searching for norms.
And with fate in desperation's grip,
teardrops fuel emotional storms.
Love's abandoned so hope may survive,
trading promises for safer things.
And you hunker down behind your walls,
wishing you could flee on magic wings.
