A One-Way Trip To Mars
A One-Way Trip to Mars
By Elton Camp
Thousands are clamoring to take part
When colonization of Mars does start
To inhabit this planet, humans choose
And existing technologies will use
Mars rovers will prepare the way
The base where humans will stay
All that they need will be in place
When the Martian surface they face
A transit vehicle will carry the crew
On arrival, plenty of work they do
Marssuits they must always wear
The environment’s hostile out there
The air is non-breathable and thin
Plus radiation that life could end
Water & oxygen they must produce
From Mars resources--no excuse
Will this project really succeed?
Can they find all that they need?
Supply ships and more people arrive
Every two years so they can stay alive
Those who go can never return
Their place in history they earn
If anything should go awry
There’s no option but to die
