Star- like, fiery symmetry,
strong suggestion of a flower
but a betrayal of beauty
suspended on a
flesh- pink, chrichoid stalk,
A manifest illusion
of blood and mud
Brilliant, strange- compels the questions.
What silent signal from the dark ether
opened the vile smelling blossom?
Was it borne forth from dormant spores,
its genesis sprung from hidden fungal roots?
A vision encountered by chance
A shocked foot held suspended
over this wonder, now transposed
to a flower in nightmare dreams.
