A Lover's Walk

A Lover's Walk We walked the streets that summer, off the chart row after row of homes lined like little blocks some were decaying , some were falling apart Fall was waiting, with it's many brilliant hues tree after tree was waiting it's turn to paint red, gold, brown and yellow missing only blues We walked in the icy cold winter's whitest snow taking pleasure in the warm thoughts we embraced future a mystery , so damn glad we didn't know Eager spirits so willing to walk every new day forget the past and favor the coming of our love so long before fate came to have it's final say How did we ever so foolishly live to miss the easy coming destruction of our love a touch removing the decay of our last kiss! Whispers awaiting on the mists of Spring air The streets now silently cold and so very bare! Robert J. Lindley, 03-23-1976 This from my journal so long ago brings back such bittersweet memories. Life giveth and life taketh away. A hard lesson learned .....
