A Classroom Is Not the Same For Everyone
A classroom is a lonely place
For a child who feels unloved and disrespected
For a child who sees every sneer and whisper
As a personal threat
Thinking each one has her name on it
A classroom is a torturous cell for a child
Who has moved eight times, living with a
Variety of relatives and foster parents.
A child who hides that she cannot read or
Write with behaviors that irritate every
Teacher and so-called parent.
A classroom is a marvelous teasing place
For a child who has no friends, who is not
Invited to parties, who is made fun of
For her lack of knowledge. A classroom is
Not the same for everyone.
Teachers need to remember this.
