A Christmas Poem

Eating drinking fun and folly, Tis the season to be jolly, Wrapping presents spending cash, A drunken kiss at a Christmas bash., Little eyes fix on an add, Then focus in on mum and dad, The TV yells out “spend spend spend”, Still not enough go out and lend, What’s going on we must amend, What’s wrong with just a token gift? A thought to make our spirits lift, A friendly face to a lonely eye, The type of gift that cash can’t buy, But alls not lost no need to fear, It’s still a special time of year, As children dream of red nosed deer, Just take the time to hold them near, And take the time to let them know, That gifts don’t last they melt like snow, The only gift that really lasts, Cannot be merely bought with cash, It comes from somewhere deep within, Or some say from above, It does not even have a bow, This gift is Peace and Love.
