Prayers Needed a Tribute To Carolyn Devonshire

Hearing the words "touch and go," I sink into a quagmire of despair Slipping and sliding on tears of fear In a swamp of memories I've but one brother, one sister Artie's Covid battle unleashed ills Pandora's Box opened to pneumonia COPD and emphysema Now the reaper knocks upon his door I pray he does not answer Separated by a thousand miles I long to see his smile again To hear his laugh just one more time I'd follow hope's long road anywhere Wrap him in the comfort of prayer Use my shield of love to protect him His chances tenuous at best Anxiety chases dreams away Lord, let me embrace him once more Before You carry him home Copyright © Carolyn Devonshire | Year Posted 2021 This poem was written by a beautiful lady, Carolyn Devonshire. A sister, a gifted poet of radiant talent was herself carried home not long after this tear filled plea of healing for her brother. Her love was so apparent for others, and the beauty of nature. Why did she not reach out through poetry for prayer for her own healing? A selfless, precious giving soul, she obviously put others above her own needs. There are so many poems that attest to this. Rest in peace sweet Carolyn, heaven must be so beautiful. I hope you are sitting in the garden of sunflowers bloomed anew in paradise, and composing beautiful lyrics of joy for the angels to sing.

Carolyn was indeed a most loved and valued member of our community. She was one of the first to welcome me to The Soup. She was truly a loving and giving soul who will be greatly missed. It was a real shock for me to hear of her passing. Rest In Peace Dear Sister. God Bless, JB

<3 Thank you for stopping by Judy. I have only been on here a year, and not as often as I wish. I didn't know her like most of you, I'm a newcomer compared to most on PS. I read some of her poems, and loved them. My heart breaks that she departed this life so soon. She seemed like such a beautiful soul. By the way, I enjoyed looking at your poems today. I can tell you though, the theme song from All in the Family has been running through my mind now for hours, and I think I need to play some different music or something to make it stop ;) But it was really nice and light hearted to visit your fun heart on your page. She is in eternal rest now Andrea, and I don't think things happen by accident in the big scheme, it's sad you missed the messages, but please take comfort. If God puts it on your heart to do a prayer blog in memory of her, maybe there can be a place where poets can post their prayers, while others could see them and pray for the needs. Please remember, try to find rest in the fact that the terrible days of weakness and pain are behind her now. I pray that our Lord comforts you and helps you to imagine her peace, joy, health and the wonder of heaven. Your heart is so tender, God bless you sweet Andrea, with His peace. I will pray He gives you that peace and comfort. I know I struggle with sadness of loss. Sometimes I just try desperately to refocus on heaven and the peace found there. Even Jesus wept of course, and He knew He was going to raise Lazarus, but death is very sad, and He understands. Hugs to you sweet Andrea. This is a heartbreaking loss.

finishing here. I have never been able to retrieve my voicemails and last week my son figured out how I could hear them. So yesterday I was hearing them and to my great surprise, Carolyn's voice was on two of them. I had MISSED her two last calls to me. I feel so sad that I never got them (I thought she realized I did not hear my voice mails). I had sent her a few texts before she died but maybe it was too little too late. She is hard to hear on the message but I think she wanted me to blog!!

Oh Andrea, that is sad. I'm so sorry, that must have been a shock to you to hear the messages now. It sounds like she was probably very weak when she left the messages if you can't hear them very well. You know, it's so very sad, but she is at peace now. That sad day is past, and I hope you find it to be a comfort that she was such a dear friend, that she was thinking about you. She would be blessed to know about this tribute of her poetry you are hosting on Poetry Soup for her, and she may actually know, and I'll bet she does <3

wow, I remember this time when she was asking for prayers for him and only one month later, it was she who was doing even worse than her own brother. There is a name for that, but it eludes me right now. This is a striking tribute. Thanks so much for this. The list of all the tributes should be up in a few days. Thanks for contributing. By the way, she was able to see her brother on her birthday in the middle of July. He showed up to see her as she lay sick.

What a beautiful comfort, she wanted to embrace him, and he was there for her. My heart hurts, it is so sweet, and so sad at the same time. I am so very glad he was there for her. <3
