Mind Games

She swam as if on a fairground ride Laughing 'midst the rushing waves, She frolicked in the running tide An outing from her deep enclave. I watched her antics from the pier Scarce could I believe my eyes, A mermaid! was she really here Then she waved, to my surprise. Sheepishly I waved along Were my senses fooling me, For in an instant she was gone Naught but the waves, and rolling sea. 'Oft I saunter to that pier Hoping I'll see her again, Never though has she appeared, I fear my mind was playing games. Entry for MERMAIDS Poetry Contest Sponsored by Line Gauthier 23/9/2019. Placed 3rd.

Don’t give up and, if you must, yield to blissful madness. I enjoyed this so much.

I like everything about this, Gary: The rhyme, the rhythm, the story, and how you've tied the title so nicely into the theme and the denouement. See you in the winner's circle with this one. Cheers, Gershon
