A Live and Dangerous Worm

In a cave not too far from here lives a ferocious dragon He sits on a great treasure His eyes peer out at the world He is not young But he is still fierce He protects his gold, silver, mithril, and gems from all strangers Only a great knight of the realm could challenge him He is a wily worm full of guile and spite All who speak with him fall under the dragon spell and he destoys them A creature out of a child's nightmare but real enough to chill the blood and terrify those who who come across him

Sharp and chrisp, this dragon seem a wily old fox, with the wisdom of an owl and the fire of hell.

The tail of a dragon is often quite long... this one was delightful and didn't drag on... Terrry (nice poem & thanks for your kind comments)
