A Lighthouse Speaks

Where would we be sometimes without a beacon,
single guiding ray to lead us safely home?
Our woes that rage within life’s storms would deepen,
lost in violent seas aimlessly we’d roam.
To needy hearts that waves have lashed and beaten,
God's word's a lighthouse for their piteous moan.
Without a lighthouse, will they reach the shore
a place of safety they can find no more?
They search to see if their efforts are for naught,
and avoid destructive rocks that lie ahead.
Soon the path of light that beams at night is sought,
with the storm behind them in its mighty stead,
Harassed by wreckage that raging tides have wrought,
they are thankful for the prayers that were said.
This lighthouse calmly speaks hope to the hopeless
saying, "Peace be still," from raging tempests rest.
