A Different Shade

Is the grass greener On the other side, Or just a different shade? Could one even Find shelter In a single blade? A question I had to ask As I watched him laugh, With his whole being... That I could not help, But to be taken aback. And what was behind, That intriguing smile? So charming and guile, It was his company I've found to be, More than worthwhile. His secrets revealed, Impossible for him To hide, For he does not know, That when he talks On the things He cares about, A passionate glint, Suddenly appears, Into his eyes. And I am left, Questioning, How was I, Caught by surprise. Leading me to wonder, Is the grass greener, On the other side, Or just a different shade? I look over the fence, Where he stands, And I cannot, Turn away.

Though some dimmer, some bright--even as you speak and write, all is shading. Great theme!
