Sally was a new mum, whose baby screamed continually Despite being fed and changed, her child continued to cry Rocking and cooing a lullaby did not console the babe Patience was wearing thin for Sally, a single mother Sally was exhausted and one night she finally snapped She snatched the wailing infant from her crib Shook her like a rag doll until the baby went limp Finally, the child stopped crying … 6 - 8 Contest Sponsored by Nette Onclaud 10-25-17

I really like how you did yours too, Jan. Maybe this was the most favored topic for poets. I am seeing many rag doll poems. I liked all three of the themes. The sunlight in eyes would have been romantic if I'd have done it.

Its great we chose a similar theme of abuse, it needs to be highlighted more as sadly it is happening on an all too frequent basis, there is currently a case in the Uk of an adopted little girl who tragically died:-( hugs jan xx

This is so sad Jan, and the fact that it happens all the time is so scary. I liked the way you presented this. It is well written and filled with emotion! I hope it does well in the contest. : )

This was a difficult read for me, Jan, because I find it so hard to imagine that any parent could do that to their child. I guess I should leave my idealistic world and come back to reality. Your poem certainly had an emotional impact on me! Good luck in the contest. John

I keep reading about these tragedies in the press it is so so sad. In Scotland they are making it illegal for a parent to smack a child... I wonder if this will eventually be made law in other jurisdictions. :-) hugs Jan xx

A tragic ending to what should've been a new and blessed beginning. Your emotive writes never take a back seat to your humorous ones, Jan.
