Hurricane Lucifer

You break my home and destroy my land,
With evil intent,
but you won’t break me.
As I look around,
at wanton carnage done
My house uprooted, thrown to the sea.

Hurricane Lucifer,
you will run and die,
Then I will restore, for my resolve is strong.
Your Sister may follow, to continue Devil’s work
Be warned though,
nothing will take me
from the Land, I belong.

I was born in 1938, the nameless hurricane then was the worst on the New England coast. Then in 1954 Hurricane Carol hit us. Survived that one. Then Hurricane Sandy struck; it's devastation still felt today in some parts of New England. At the moment its Jose now a tropical storm with high winds and much rain. Will survive this one too. I feel I'm in company with biblical characters like Job who lost everything but was rewarded doubly later for his faith. Best to you. / M

Amen! I had to deal with Hurricane Irma. Was out of power from 3:15 am until 8:30 pm last night. We still have 150,000 people without power tonight. We also have flooding and trees down all over town. But we survived! Nicely penned, Kevin!

Thanks for the comment Julie, It must have been a frightening ordeal for you, Thankfully you are alive to tell the story, We moan about the weather in England, but fortunately we never have any extremes, look after yourself, kind regards, Kevin x
