You Have Chosen
“But I will rise and I will sing, Until the day I can't conceal it, Because I hold the saddest song, I wish to god you cannot feel it” Kate Rusby – Bitter Boy You have chosen to be silent And I to speak Though in this voice of conflicted tunes, How could one turn to rest and resolve? There is no relief here, In these arms I have held you To help you face your qualms Here I am, no nomad, Here I am, no coward! I will not flee from my flaws I shall tune them to my loving I shall hold each wrong to the light I speak, I speak How weak I am to still yet speak To your distilled air of vanity, Distilled air, threadbare! You gave me absolutely nothing to hold And yet I still held you! I chose to shed light to my despair As you crawled into the crevices As all of you disappeared You knew nothing of my worth Of my voice, my poetry, of my passions You knew nothing that wasn’t your gain You don’t know the half of who I am And who I am meant to be You have chosen to be silent And I to speak Though in this voice of conflicted tunes, How could one turn to rest and resolve?
