Letter To Time
Dear Time, I can’t tell if you’re my enemy or my best friend. It never occurred to me till now that children have no problem with you. You never hear a child complain that there’s not enough time. So obviously, it’s the Adult in me that has all the issues. I’m not sure where the idea came from that 24 hours was not enough for me and I had the right to be unhappy about it. I’ve made various attempts to set goals, prioritize, track. I was always so much better with the ToDo part, but not so good with celebrating my accomplishments or even taking stock of them. There’s never been a happy marriage between me and you. It was one-sided and all about work work work. There was never enough play. I need to finally make peace with you. I can’t go through the rest of my life angry at you or continuing to feel inadequate. These last couple of days I’ve been thinking about my Legacy. That’s obviously a lifetime project with building blocks. So I’d like to be friends and work with you as a team. Maybe I can just start each morning by saying that, if all goes well, I have 24 hours just like everyone else. What do I want to accomplish in those hours and what can wait until tomorrow, God willing. I’m really glad we had this talk.
