For They Had Deep Faith and True Loving Hearts
For They Had Deep Faith And True Loving Hearts Snow was seven feet deep, it was still falling Life was brutal and crying for frozen feet Grandfather heard echoes miles away calling He starving alone, nothing at all to eat Settler's cabin ahead was his saving grace For he knew in faith, they had good Christian souls With faith filled love for those of his redskin race True mercy, helping others their cherished goals With no memory of how he had made it His failing legs got him to that cabin door Through snowdrifts, not knowing how he had made it A miracle, he had prayed for nothing more Suddenly, safe inside, cheerfully greeted With warm food and their sincere prayers repeated Robert J. Lindley, 3-17-2017 Syllables Per Line: 11 11 11 11 0 11 11 11 11 0 11 11 11 11 0 11 11 Total # Syllables: 154 Total # Words: 111 Note: True story, as we were told by our Indian grandfather and our mother. A brief narrative written in short, sonnet form, telling of how my Indian grandfather, Julius Parks, was once saved from freezing to death in a brutally cold and massive winter storm, by a Christian family living deep in the woods.. He would finish the story by telling us, kids those people are in HEAVEN RIGHT NOW. FOR THEY HAD DEEP FAITH AND TRUE LOVING HEARTS!!!!
