I Will Not Be Ashamed
Do I not breath does my heart not beet does my blood bleed red Yes! so what makes me so different As I sit on this park bench I watch couples of all ages and races holding hands, kissing, and being sweet being in love and showing it Do I not love as deep do I not hurt as strong do I not feel as well Yes! So, what makes the difference If I grab the hand of the one I love shame be bestowed upon me If I give a little kiss as they all do may heaven’s doors be slammed in front of me If I be sweet to the one I love shunned is my best friend It is not a stage for it is marriage it is not a sin for God is with me everyday it is true, it is magic, it is love and I have it I do not have to be ashamed I do not have to hide I do not need this criticism I have a place where I belong I will miss the ones I love Now I know where I call home I know just why I have to leave I will be happy when I am free I will not live each day in shame I do not have to play the what’s right game I can walk with my head high and my woman by my side with her hand in mine
