Unselfish giving with great joy Shows we have the Christmas cheer. Mother’s bake up a treat— Their loved ones to endear. “Peace upon earth and goodwill to men” Is on the lips of all we meet; Both where the snow is falling And in the busy stores where gifts entreat. The spirit of Christmas cannot be found In pretty lights or tinsel on a tree, But in the joy of a humble manger, Where our Lord was born a baby. The spirit of Christmas Began with the three wise men from the East, Bearing costly gifts for a king— There was no banquet or feast. They worshipped the new born baby; The Star of Bethlehem showed them the way; Few understood its silent night words; The Christ-child’s birth to display. The spirit of Christmas is in generous giving, Just as God gave us His only son; A sacrificial gift from the heart For a world requiring pardon.
