The Long Walk
The long walk by Nathan Stanford Walking down the old dirt road, the one that I was walking on just awhile ago. The mighty trees are shedding there leaves naked and shivering as cold as they can be. The night air is getting thicker and the sun is losing it’s heat, It won’t be long now and there will be white beneath our feet. As I walk around the corner up in the branches of that walnut tree sat an owl with great big eyes and its head was following me, walking a little faster knowing with any little peep it would take awhile for my head to catch up to my feet. Seeing all the colors lying on the ground tells me that it is safe here and its time to settle down. So I found a soft place not far off the road , thinking what is in front of me that I was never told . Sometimes it gets scary when you don’t know where tho put your feet but then you remember making it this far and there is know word for defeat .So I will keep on marching and some day this pain will end but always standing behind me will be a trusted friend . And as I tell this story , I get up to my feet and then I keep on walking forward seeing the end of the road and there are my children standing all in a row and there arm are all stretched oh so wide please don’t tell a soul that you seen a grown man cry.
