A Story Sketched by Stars
The stars of heaven a story tell, as on the canvas of the sky with pictures, bold and intricate, each night they speak without a word. Ancient stargazers sketched the signs that God arranged among the stars. They traced the circuit of the sun as it traverses through the TWELVE. The signs presaged the birth of One Who would succeed where Adam failed, by crushing the Old Serpent’s head and ransom sinners from his fold. In Virgo’s sign, she holds a branch revealing Him who was the BRANCH. Born of a virgin, God in flesh, two natures as in Centaurus found. When weighed in Libra’s pair of scales, Adam's race was found wanting. The One who was of virgin birth would pay the price man’s sin was worth. The Southern Cross reveals the way by which the Son of God would die. Lupus depicts His sacrifice as the spotless lamb for sinners slain. Scorpio shows Satan’s enmity against him who was the virgin’s seed. The serpent would but hurt His heel, but He, the serpent’s head would crush. The mighty man in Serpens stars, and he, who fights in Hercules, is none but Christ, the Son of God who defeats the Old Serpent, Satan. As victor He rides, the archer bold, as Sagittarius’s sign unfolds. The harp revealed in Vega’s stars a symbol of his victory song. In ancient times at Yom Kippur, a goat was slain for Israel’s sins. This goat for them, atonement made a symbol of the Christ to come. In Capricorn, the goat appears as Christ, who full atonement made. The fishlike tail reveals the ones for whom His atonement is made. Sagitta’s arrow pierces Christ’s heart. Like Aquila’s wounded eagle, He falls. Delphinus signifies His rising, as a dolphin leaping from the sea. The blessings promised to Abram are secured by the risen Christ. The pouring forth of His blessings is the tale Aquarius tells. “As the stars shall thy seed be, numerous as sands upon the shore.” Numberless as fishes in the sea would be those whom Christ’s blessings receive. Christ’s blessings first flow to Abram’s seed depicted by the Southern Fish. The two fishes in Pisces’ sign confirm the tale Aquarius tells. The band that binds the fishes’ tails, and Andromeda’s chained woman, depict chains that bind the redeemed now, which Cephus, the King soon comes to break. A living lamb is Aries’ sign. Andromeda’s woman in chains, in Cassiopeia, sits on a throne. Cetus, the sea monster is bound. Perseus, the breaker of the chains, is Christ, the slain lamb who now lives. Satan, the sea monster is bound, doomed to ruin, Christ, destined to reign. Taurus shows Christ coming to judge, He is Orion’s mighty prince, whose wrath like Eridanus’ river flows bringing destruction to all His foes. Gemini depicts the reign of Christ, and His twin natures as God and man. In Cancer, He holds His redeemed together, keeping them safe on Argo’s ship. Christ was the promised Messiah, the lion of the tribe of Judah. He is the sign Leo’s lion with his paw on Hydra’s serpent’s head. Crater’s cup on the serpent’s back, depicts God’s wrath upon him poured. Corvus, the raven who eats dead flesh, spells Satan’s defeat and Christ’s triumph. The wondrous story told by stars is confirmed in God’s written word. The greatest ever told is full of hope for mortal souls.
