My Life This Week
A student lights a tablecloth on fire in the lunchroom. The adult in charge gets reamed for not paying attention to him. Why didn’t you immediately see what he wanted? First of all, he yelled at me. Then he got out of his seat and began running toward me. I have forty-six other students who know they have to raise their hand. I told him to go back and raise his hand. Did he do it? No. So, did you go over and see what he wanted? Yes. And what happened? He yelled at me again telling me a table mate poured water on his lunch tray. They had both poured water on each other’s lunch tray. My boss who is NEVER in there when the adult in charge is said “I have now given him permission to leave the lunchroom if you do not pay attention to him.” I thought I was the adult in charge. All thoughts of that went out the window. Today was our next lunch shift together. He nearly choked a student in two. All powerful now thanks to my boss.
