Winter
The grass now brown, the leaves are shed You'd almost think, the poor tree's dead Beneath the trees, dead leaves abound Some red, some yellow, but mostly brown The waning moon this eerie night Causes scary shapes that could cause fright Beware the ugly leaden sky The branches bend, I wonder why? The coming days you'll be aware The snowflakes will swirl, without a care Icicles will grow by day or night The wind will blow with all its might Snowflakes will fly and cover the ground A mantle of white will show all around Children with sleds will be happy in fun But you'll rue the day, you lost the sun In months to come the grass will green The sun will appear, for months quite unseen Its pleasant rays now warm the earth In preparation for a magnificent birth Old Mother Nature, as true as her word Will magically produce a small chirping bird The bird's quiet chirping will ultimately say I bring you a harbinger, of a most glorious day The buds of the Crocus through snow now appear Signaling to all, spring is quite near The winds will subside, the snow melts away The warming sun will again rule our day
