Awaiting the Dawn
The night is calm, I hear only the sea. Darkness reigns, no star, or moonlight. My thoughts, not as calm, as they could be. I look out, but see nothing but night. I feel my emotions rise to new height. And my will is just hanging on. I am like a frightened bird taking flight. I can't escape, so I await the dawn. Forgotten memories filter through my mind. They come creeping in while unaware. Thoughts that I was certain I left behind. But they were merely hidden there. The tension builds swiftly inside. So high, it needs a place to land. As if a wave at high tide, comes in to to crash upon the sand. I try desperately to force them away. To release them, to set myself free. I beg, I plead, then I begin to pray. Let this be the last, the final decree. Some memories come with points of steel. They pierce, my heart cries out in pain. Only imagined, but the pain is so real. I can't let them find me again. I am searching for peace of mind. Am I to be left wondering why? I fear that it is something that I will never find. Fate has decided and will continue to deny. I grow weary, the night beacons me. I am weak, I can only give in. I don't know what this ending will be. Will it end, or will it all begin?
