Value of Life
Baggy sweats, empty pockets, hair a mess Look at what I've become, and where I've come from Life has been a closed up corridor Though I've always dreamed of something more But I don't have a penny to my name Without fame I fear I've run out of shame I sought self-worth in a companion But how can anyone else value me If I can't even value myself And I slam myself against these walls It's abhorrent but I made the wrong calls I convince myself I've learned this lesson But in truth I have one confession I haven't learned anything And that truth brings me pain As I collapse onto this corridor floor My heart sore, but who is keeping score The lore of the law says I'm simply a thrall Chained to the idea of love Even as they look down upon me from above Truth is this corridor is just a maze But I can't see their twisted gaze And I'll be trapped here for days Damned by my own anti-social ways They lifted the lid on this dungeon But they're not helping me get out But if it's one thing I've learned It'll be my decisions that got me burned Though if I look into my very soul I can see the years have taken their toll It's now or never I've got to find the value of my life And eradicate the blight of this strife Before it's too late ...Before it's too late
