Did I Forgive
God said if we wish to be forgiven we must forgive. The death of Christ is the ultimate act of forgiveness. Christ gave his life to forgive. So why cant I simply forgive? I want to forgive. I want to forget. But I suffer from a broken heart. I was hurt deeply by a close family member. Some days it is good and I have forgotten the hurt. Other days I am reminded of what happened and the old hurt and anger comes rushing back in. So I struggle with what God requires, forgiveness. I say the words but don't feel it. What does forgiveness feel like? Peace, warmth, happiness, nothing? Do I really want to forgive or do I want to get even and want to be mad? Have I forgiven if I no longer want to see of hear of that person again? I want to do what is expected by God. I cant do it on my own and need God's help to truly forgive. God loves both sides and wishes us peace. Faith and love of God is the only thing that will help us to forgive. I will keep trying and I pray to God to give me a healed heart so I can truly forgive.
