Fool Me Not
I was fooled then, and so devastated Since such person was whom I respected… How deceived was I that I invested Blessings I believed, but turned as wasted! Now, from being fooled, I moved on to claim God’s grace that I can possess without shame I trust the Sovereign Guide midst the fool’s blame To shield me from the lure of scam’s name-game. Today, my child, receive my stern warning... Fool me once and lose my trust worth winning Do what’s right from the very beginning Since being true is virtuous training. When you fool me, you want me to be sad And doing so actually makes me mad I pray that you would grow as a good lad Who lets the Lord smile, and be indeed glad! Fool not me, your teacher who knows your tricks It’s hard for you to kick against the pricks Learn from my experience for your life’s fix Which my parents taught me when I was six. Fool me, but you’ll soon be caught with your lies Be careful with your own tongue that denies Take note: telling the truth earns you a price Peace of mind along with conscience that’s wise*. *Proverbs 3:7 Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
