On the rolling azure waves rising high and falling low my boat pitches and I toil to float, the journey is slow. The moonless nights descend on the charcoal sea, the sky sinks in the darkened horizon, nothing I can see, but to reach the land beyond I have to sail long and far. Lost and lone in the alien sea I search for the pole star. I discover the guiding flash of the star hidden in me, trace a faint line to the destination, I don’t yet see. The wind on the sagging sail is weak, doesn’t blow. Before the boat sinks to the promised land I must go. You are waiting for me long on the distant shores, I don’t know why in the middle of the sea I am for. June 19, 2018
